The Story PROOF tells the story of an enigmatic young woman haunted by her father’s past and the shadow of her own future. After years of taking care of her father, Robert (Paul Troglia)- a true mathematical genius in his younger days who was left unstable and sometimes incapacitated following a mental breakdown - Catherine (Kassi Mattera) faces her 25th birthday with some trepidation. Has she inherited her father’s gifts or his madness? When Hal (Matthew Huebsch), a former student of Robert’s, finds a brilliant mathematical proof amongst dozens of incoherent notebooks left in his mentor’s office, questions arise about the origins of the work. Did the once-great mathematician find his way through the madness long enough to create the spectacular document, or was it written by someone else? The ensuing search for the truth tests Catherine’s relationship with her estranged sister, Claire (Carrie McGhee), and shakes the fragile foundations of her new romance with Hal.
